Raza Mohammed Zaidi, MD

Description

Raza Zaidi, MD is a board-certified surgeon specializing in surgical oncology. His focus is on robotic minimally invasive surgeries for gastrointestinal malignancies. He also treats soft tissue cancers including sarcoma, breast and melanoma. He is a fellow of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the American College of Surgeons. Recognized for his expertise, he was named a Robotic Surgeon of Excellence by the Surgical Review Corporation, and also received the Most Compassionate Doctor Award from Healthgrades. Dr. Zaidi has expertise in performing surgeries with the da Vinci robot. He is an active member of the Robotics Performance Enhancement Committee and helps assess and improve robotic surgeons, nationally, as a C-SATS expert reviewer. He participates in the Pancreas Multidisciplinary Clinic and the Northwell Gastrointestinal Tumor Board, working regularly with physicians across specialties to deliver comprehensive care. Upon graduating high school, he was accepted into the Accelerated Combined Medical Program with Union College and Albany Medical College. He completed his undergraduate degree and his medical school degree in seven years, versus the typical eight, and graduated top third in his class. He remained at Albany Medical Center in general surgery and served as Chief Resident. He completed his fellowship training in minimally invasive, gastrointestinal and robotic surgery at Northwell, where he was recruited into the division of surgical oncology. He embraces the intensity of his field. “As a surgeon, you’re a very active part of the healing process, ” he says. “It’s incredibly satisfying to see a patient recover because of your help, and it pushes me to grow and remain tireless in achieving the best outcomes for my patients.” Coming from a family of physicians, helping others is a core value. He also feels that he has learned the most from his patients.
